Why is my Twitter account liking random tweets from people I don’t know?

Have you connected any apps to the accounts?

Twitter has the ability to connect third-party apps to your account that can do actions on your behalf such as liking tweets. These apps can sometimes be automated which means it would run without you knowing.

So how do you track down these apps? And how to do you remove them

These pesky little apps can be found in your security settings

When you open your settings on the menu it defaults you onto the account page and you’ll find it just above deactivate your account. Don’t worry that’s my work phone & email

From there you’ll be able to see all the apps which have access to your Twitter account. As you can see I’ve amassed quite a few

It would be worth checking these apps to see if there’s any you don’t recognise here. If you’re unsure it’ll tell you when the app was connected if you click into it

From there you’re able to “Revoke access” or remove the app from your account.

Keep scrolling down

Once you scroll down you’ll see the devices you’re logged into on Twitter. Someone with access to your Twitter account may be liking tweets for you and you can check what devices have logged in here:

If you see something you don’t recognise change your password. You may also want to turn (2FA) on for your account.

If it’s not you liking the tweets then it’s either a rogue app or another user acting on your behalf. This will help you identify and stop this.

However,if someone has access to your devices (e.g your roommate on your phone to prank you) then the above won’t help you.
